I started Mom’s Fit Club in October 2010. In the beginning I had nothing but a vision for what mom fitness training should look like and a weekly appointment to show them how to do it – every Thursday morning at 9:30 am, for MFC bootcamp. In the beginning it was just me. Well yeah, nobody showed up for awhile, just me. Then Shelby, a new mom at the gym, took a chance and showed up. She thought she was going to be joining a group. “Well yeah, don’t worry,” I told her, “we’re new, so it’s taking a second to get momentum but I promise it will be a real group soon.” In my mind I’m thinking, so you’re saying there’s a chance, yeehaw! and in her mind, it’s probably like who in the hell is this crazy lady? PS – Thank you Shelby, for continuing to come every week until you became an actual group!
But anyways, MFC eventually grew and grew. Over the last 4 years, we added several dozen members, a weekly yoga class, several awesome instructors and more bootcamp class dates per week, and most importantly, helped a ton of moms improve their lives on many different levels with inspiration to strive for healthier, stronger lives. We even commissioned a logo along the way and had a video made!
I love this group of women more than I can possibly tell you in words alone. Getting to work with them every day was an amazing experience. Motherhood is an incredibly rewarding experience but it’s also a very exhausting one too! Today’s moms are busy, overworked, and in desperate need of the most efficient fitness and nutrition advice possible.
That’s why MFC is so important – we focus on researching and providing the most relevant, science-based exercises that will help moms restore their core strength and tone their baby bellies, realign the posture, and keep the metabolism boosted. We also help with understanding how adjusting to motherhood also requires us to refocus our priorities and constantly adapt to changing routines, rituals, and lifestyle habits as loving caregivers. Motherhood is an adventure, full of ups and downs, and incredible milestones. It’s the most important job we’ll ever have the privilege of doing and I think that the healthier and more resilient you are, the more you can enjoy this rollercoaster!
